Pest and Fungus
Texas trees face constant threats from insects and fungal infections that attack when trees are stressed or weakened. The most common pests include borers, bagworms, and beetles that feed on the wood or leaves. They create small round holes in the bark, leave sawdust piles at the base, or cause sections of the canopy to turn brown and die. Once these pests get inside the tree, they cut off the flow of nutrients and water, causing the tree to slowly decay from within.
Fungal problems are just as destructive. Diseases like Hypoxylon canker, root rot, and powdery mildew thrive during wet, humid weather or after droughts when trees are vulnerable. You might see cracking bark, gray or black patches, or mushrooms growing near the trunk. These are all signs that decay has started, and without proper management, the fungus can spread to nearby trees.
The sooner pests or fungus are caught, the better the chances of saving the tree. What looks like a small problem can quickly turn into large-scale damage if ignored. If you notice holes in the bark, sticky sap, dying branches, or fungal growth, it’s time for a professional inspection. We can identify the cause and recommend the safest way to protect your property before it spreads further.
